Poor Ed...I bet his crew (and his kids!) are never going to let him live that one down. Good to see him finally crack a smile on the field, though, and he had a good recovery after the initial meltdown.
And when was the last time you ever heard a referee apologize to the fans?

The thing is.. I think Ed's going to have the last laugh on that one, because if I recall correctly there wasn't a facemask at all on the play. Bad call. I'm not blaming Ed because I think it was the Umpire who threw the flag.

It was the U 31 Chad Brown that threw the flag for facemask.
How do you know that there was no facemask on the play? Just wondering.

When they showed the replay from the side, I saw the Giants D-Lineman's hand come up near Portis's facemask on the way down, but he never actually touched it. If he DID then it would've been incidental. The only thing he actually grabbed was around the left shoulderpad.
