Could someone explain to me why certain teams see the same officiating crew twice in the same year? This year Dallas has had Parry (@STL, SEA), Carey (@GB, SF), and now Anderson (WASH, NYG) twice in the same season. I read somewhere that the reason for having 17 crews was that each team would average each crew once a year. Dallas has yet to have Hochuli, Corrente, Coleman, or Cheffers work a regular season game. Also, why is that Carey always seems to work a Dallas home game yearly, I am not complaining I think he is one of the best, I am just curious.

Just an interesting note. I am a Bears fan and have noticed that the Bears through 14 games have gotten 14 different officials. we only have not gotten Jerome Boger, Jeff Triplette, and Gene Steratore. However, we are scheduled to get Ron Winter for a second time in week 16. The Bears also got him in week 2 @ Panthers.

Hi Chris

This is my understanding of it (and I won't admit I know for certain or have inside information) 8)

Crews are picked randomly by computer at the beginning of each season. There may be a glitch here and there which requires a live person at the league office to make a change. Also, the crews do not know their scheduled game until a week or so prior to each regular season game.

That's all - I pretend to know!
