With the year you are having it may be time to see your private eye doctor or retire.

Go Saints

I do not think so.

In the 1st half of the game --- the Saints need an eye check & new players. They fumbled the football 4 times total. Three of the Fumbles were the saints fault.

No doubt the Saints are having a much worse game than the officials. The botched fumble call, was bad, but the other three turnovers (one was an interception) are all on the Saints.

unseen face mask, ball fumbled but no turn over, the old man needs to get his eyes checked

I wasnt going to say anything, but pumphrey54, you have it all wrong. theres no way you can compare the football players game problems with the refs.
no way!

Sure you can compare them. There is a difference, but you can compare. Because of the physical nature of the game, and the fact the other team also has a physical nature, the players will make plenty of mistakes.

The refs just have to call what happens. That is just a cisional thing, they don't have to try and out physical anyone, just see what happens.

This game they actually only missed one obvious call. Maybe a few small ones, but the small ones we all can live with. It is the large ones we don't want.

I'm not sure how you can blame Ed for the unseen facemask. That is either the Head Linesman or the line judge's call. Ed was in the offensive backfield, 10 yards or more away. If Jerome Boger or Walt Anderson or Mike Carey had been doing this game, nobody would have brought that up. It's just because it's Ed Hochuli, and people can't seem to get over the fact that he blew one call 3 weeks ago.

This picture says it all. http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/30554274.html has a great picture of Ed looking at the non call facemask penalty while being less than 10 yards away.

I guess that Sean Payton and the Saints learned a lesson about criticizing the refs, because these guys stick together and get even.

Ed is like Jim Edmonds, Bart Starr, Barry Bonds, and Willie Mays. They stayed in the game too long and became an embarrassment to their sport.

I looked at the picture and Reggie's back is blocking Ed from seeing the facemask. If it makes you feel better to blame Ed that is your right to do but what about your kicker he missed two field goals? What about Bush he returns the punt for a TD if the "turf monster" does not get him. You are correct their was a facemask that was missed blame the NFl that facemask should be a reviewable play. If you blame Ed for this loss then you better put the Ravens loss on Bill Carollo.

I am going to blame the Falcons for the Packers losing. Evidently it is someone else's fault for a loss so why not. Nothing Ed did was bad Monday night and he did a fine job.

Even the ESPN announcers said that the facemask was not Ed's call to make, but since he is the head Referee he will be blamed. All you Saints fans blame the guy whose call it was to make.

Very compelling evidence, str021. Good job. Ed Hochuli screwed up another one and should be suspended or fired, but his devoted fans here will always defend him and make excuses for him regardless of what happens.

cball1985:
Anyone who isn't blind could see Bush's head twisting around from where Hochuli is standing. He had a great angle and he blew the call. He has no excuse unless he thinks Linda Blair was playing for the Saints with her spinning exorcist head.

How do you know that is what he is looking at? So he missed a split second call. Can you do it?

Ed and his squad have had a below average season thus far and there's no denying that. Five weeks into they year and they are catching heat for two of the games they have officiated. So, when 40% of the games you call are causing this kind of uproar the following day it's not a good thing. Regardless of whose call the facemask was, it was missed and it was a call that could have put the Saints inside the Vikings 30. Personally, I think the worse of the two calls was not ruling Peterson's carry a fumble. It was clear to me, the crew announcing the game, and just about evey sports talk host this morning, that it was a fumble. Ed's explanation of the call was dumbfounding to me, and it was the wrong call.

No one to blame except for:

Coach - Payton

Kicker - Gramatica

Running Back - Young

QB - Brees

Ohhhh... Let's see 5 Total fumbles, 2 missed field goals(1 returned by Vikings for a TD), 1 of the Fumbles by the running back right into the hands of a Viking Defensive Player. Let's not forget the Offensive line not blocking for Brees & he fumbled the Football to a Viking Defensive Player.

I think all these people that I mentioned should be scrutinized.
